Kuranda Scenic Railway – A Journey Through History
Firstly, you will be picked up at your Cairns accommodation. Then, your day starts off with a spectacular ride on the Kuranda Scenic Railway. Built in the 1880s, this historic train winds through lush rainforest, passing 15 hand-carved tunnels and 37 bridges. As you travel, you’ll witness breathtaking sights of cascading waterfalls and dramatic landscapes, making it a truly unforgettable experience, on your way to Kuranda.
Australian Butterfly Sanctuary – A Colourful Encounter
Upon arrival, head to the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, home to around 1,500 tropical butterflies. Moreover, as you wander through the aviary, these vibrant creatures will flutter around you, providing a magical start to your time in Kuranda.
Rainforestation Nature Park – Culture, Wildlife & Adventure
Next, board the 100% electric shuttle bus to Rainforestation Nature Park, where you will:
-
- Experience Indigenous culture with the Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience – learn how to throw a boomerang, watch a traditional dance performance, and hear stories of the Dreamtime.
- Ride the Army Duck – this amphibious vehicle takes you on a fascinating journey through the rainforest before splashing into the water for a cruise.
- Meet Australian wildlife – cuddle a koala, hand-feed kangaroos, and see endangered species like the cassowary and Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo.
After all the excitement, you will enjoy a delicious lunch at Rainforestation while taking in stunning lagoon views before heading to your next adventure.
Skyrail Rainforest Cableway – Soaring Above the Canopy
To conclude your day, you’ll embark on an unforgettable ride on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, offering unparalleled aerial views of the rainforest. As you glide over the treetops on this 7.5 km journey, you will have the opportunity to stop at two mid-stations:
